Blackhawk Ministries is my home church(I’d love for you to come visit – we can sit together!) and has been since I was an infant! There are so many things I LOVE about our church… the people of our church are the best and the kindness they show to young and old can not be beat! Pouring into the next generation and the generations to follow is at the heart of Blackhawk.
VBS, Vacation Bible School, is just one of the ways we can reach and teach the little hearts and minds of Blackhawk and those outside of Blackhawk. We welcome children from all over, those who have a home church and those who are not regular church-goers!
I was thrilled to be able to send my kiddo this year to VBS 2019 ROAR! I also was given the opportunity to photograph the event this year and I was blown away… the time and investment poured into our kids is invaluable and I am forever grateful!
I first want to THANK all the volunteers… those who work behind the scenes, those on the stage, those working with the kids directly… those who worked before(for the past 12 months) the event, throughout the event(5 nights away from their own family) and after the event(big job of tear-down)… those who worked on the decorations(blown away by the time and effort to make the facility look and feel like you are in the safari), those who helped prepare the snack, those who cared for the infants of the volunteers and so many more! YOU are the hands and feet of Jesus and this event would not have happened and been so fruitful without each and every one of you! THANK YOU! Thank you for blessing my child and me!
This photographs does not include ALL the volunteers who served!
The sanctuary stage was transformed and the special effects of the lights was breathtaking during the opening cermony each evening. Some story telling occurred, along with praise and worship! Such a sweet sound in His ear!
Then the children went back to their rooms for play, story time, singing and dancing, coloring, snack time, some gym play and prayer time. These kid’s minds and bodies were kept busy all evening!
During the week, the children were reminded that GOD IS GOOD, ALL THE TIME!
Each evening they focused on a specific Bible story about God being faithful ALL THE TIME in every circumstance!
Evening 1: When life is unfair… God is good! Exodus 1, 5, 6 They discussed when the Israelites were slaves. Nahum 1:7
Evening 2: When life is scary… God is good! Exodus 7:14-12:32 They discussed when God sent plagues. Psalm 23:4
Evening 3: When life changes… God is good! Exodus 14-17 They discussed when the Israelites entered the wilderness. Psalm 106:1
Evening 4: When life is sad… God is good! Psalm 34:18
Evening 5: When life is good… God is good! Joshua 3:4 They discussed how the Israelites built a memorial to remember God’s goodness. Nehemiah 4:14
Friendships were refreshed and new friendships made!
Among the decorations were lots of great photo ops! The safari cars were very popular for kids to gather and play!
Kya says “No monkey business here!” (That’s because this is an ape, not a monkey 🙂 )
At the close of every evening, the older kids head back into the sanctuary(except for the first night… power went out in the sanctuary so the closing ceremony was moved to the gym. GOD IS GOOD, even when the power is out!). This was a time when the parents could come and join in on the fun before taking their kiddo home. More Bible stories were shared and lots of singing and dancing!
