I have always been in support of our local zoo. I believe the welfare of these animals is their priority and this why I love and support our local zoo! It would be ideal that all animals live in the wild, but unfortunately this is not a reality, therefore I am so thankful for our local Fort Wayne Children’s Zoo that cares for their animals and also about wildlife conservation!

Our family has been zoo members for several years now and that is just one way we support them… I was honored to photograph two of their 2016 annual events – “Zoo Brew and Wine too” and “MaskZOOrade” and they have asked me to come back for their big 2017 events. I was also asked to photograph their biggest annual event “Zoobilee Gala and Auction”. For several years now I have donated some framed prints/gallery wraps(of animals from the FW Zoo) and photography session gift certificates to this event to help raise funds for the zoo, and this year I finally got to attend – even if it was to “work” at the event by photographing it, it was still so exciting to be part of this “must attend Fort Wayne gala”!

I must say, this event was bigger and more grand than I imagined. So many guests and wonderful donors all in one location, enjoying good company and delicious drinks and food. Beautiful weather, fantastic decorations and fabulous auctions items. The Zoobilee planning committee, once again, did a fantastic job planning and preparing for this big event. I am confident all the guests had a lavish time at this event and hope major funds were raised this year to support our fantastic zoo! The Fort Wayne Children’s Zoo has been ranked one of the top zoos in the U.S – we are pretty lucky to have such an amazing zoo right here in The Fort!

What a beautiful June evening for Zoobilee 2017!

This event is held at the Parkview Physicians Group Pavilions. It is great gathering space and was filled with lots of zoo lovers!

Like I said previously, the mood and tone was beautifully set with the decor and tablescapes. This year’s theme – Waltz on the Wild Side.

Guests were delighted with “animal encounters” on the walkway to the pavilions.

Cocktail hour was followed by a delicious dinner by Empyrean Cafe and then the long-awaited auction. Guests also had the opportunity to ride the Sky Safari Ride.

Many local businesses donated services or items for the Zoobilee auction. The Zoo also offered many auction items, including a Tour with Zoo Director Jim Anderson.
