There are many milestones in life that a photographer is honored to photograph, a BIG anniversary is top of that list and unfortunately I don’t think many people(for whatever reason) don’t get the opportunity to celebrate their marriage union! It is also a great honor when a friend asks you to photograph her grandparents BIG anniversary party(no pressure right ;))

It was nothing less than an honor to spend the day with Dottie and Roger and their amazing family! 4 generations there to celebrate this sweet occasion. They have been married for 55 years and actually got married at the church where the party was held – St James Lutheran Church ~ Payne, Ohio. Talk about “a walk down memory lane” for this sweet couple! Can you believe they stood in this same location 55 years ago, in front of God, family and friends and vowed to spend all their days together(so far 20,075 days)!

Before the party official started, the family gathered outside for some photographs – a snapshot in time for the next generation to enjoy and talk about. Dottie and Roger’s growing family includes many little ones(great grands), which makes for some interesting outtakes ;), although this is not one of them!

I wonder if they remember the first time they held hands… where they were, how long they had known each other?

The church hall was decorated beautifully. The meal was “made with love”/prepared by a grandson(and was delicious). The family was warm and inviting. I would say this party was a success!

This celebration ended with some delicious cake from Courtney’s Bakery!

Dottie and Roger, I wish you the best and many many more years together. You have a beautiful family and legacy that will last through the generations!
