The Legacy Ministry group at Blackhawk Ministries held the most wonderful “Veterans Tribute” event this month. The night was filled with fellowship, honor, singing, stories and tears. November 11 is Veterans Day and this event was held the week prior, to honor those who have so graciously served and to thank the families of those who served.

The night started with Dale welcoming everyone and giving a few announcements.

Then, Chip led us in the singing of The Star-Spangled-Banner and worship with some beautiful Hymns. Nothing better than beautiful voices being lifted as a sweet aroma to worship Him! Classic hymns will never go out of style!

Then we took time to have each branch of service in the military stand during their “own song” and we were able to acknowledge and thank them. Click here to learn more about the 6 branches of the U.S. armed forces.

Next Jerry shared his family’s military story and history.

The last big event of the night was a presentation by author Kayleen Reusser. She has authored numerous books about local veterans based on her many interviews that she has conducted over the years. THANK YOU for sharing history with us! Our service men and women need to be honored and cherished… Veterans and those still serving need to have their story told. The next generation needs to know that our freedom is not free!

There was an option to purchase any of the books that Kayleen has written, along with a coloring book for children.

The evening ended with gathering and fellowship(cookies and coffee too). I am thankful for all those who are involved in the Legacy Ministry at Blackhawk. BIG THANKS for arranging this tribute event, it was beautifully decorated and planned.
