Once again the Global Leadership Summit(GLS) conference looked a bit different this year… typically we all gather together under one roof at the Allen County Memorial Coliseum to participate in The Global Network’s Leadership Summit. {CLICK HERE to see a glimpse of our last GLS at The Coliseum(2019).} Thankfully, the local team and leaders at GLS and Beyond partnered with local businesses to arrange “host sites” for those who still wanted to attend in-person. I was able to visit two of the host sites this year, Blackhawk Ministries and New Covenant Worship Center/Impact Center Fort Wayne.

My first stop, my favorite stop, Blackhawk Ministries… as always, Blackhawk was well prepared with volunteers to help the attendees have the best experience during their time at Blackhawk for GLS! Mike Stevens(my dad :)) was the team lead for the GLS welcome team at Blackhawk host site. He has been serving the Lord at Blackhawk Ministries as the head greeter for over 25 years(started as a van driver), so he is no stranger on leading a team of volunteers to serve others! (he is also a Deacon) {What is now known as the “first impressions team”(aka usher, greeter, welcome team) is an amazing group of men and women of all ages who have chosen to plug in and serve on this team. They are usually the first people that visitors meet and speak to as they come into Blackhawk Ministries on a Sunday morning(or any Blackhawk event). The ministry includes van/bus drivers, parking lot greeters, door greeters(outdoor and indoor), welcome desk, coffee/donut station and many more! Mike has a heart to serve and it shows, he is typically the first one to arrive and the last one to leave, he is the one thinking of the things that need to be done and anticipating what may come, he is the one leading the team in prayer and devotions, he is the one reaching out to individuals on the team to make sure their week is going well and praying for them throughout the week…. he does all of this without any acknowledgment and only for the Glory of the Lord! So, the next time you see Mike, tell him “THANKS for serving and leading”! I am so proud of him!}
